Due to popular demand, MCC Theater has extended its run of Ride the Cyclone at the Lucille Lortel Theatre. Performances will now run through December 29, past its original December 18 closing date.

The third musical in MCC's 30-year history, Ride the Cyclone has book, music, and lyrics by Jacob Richmond and Brooke Maxwell. Rachel Rockwell directs the production, which features original Chicago cast members Lillian Castillo, Karl Hamilton, Emily Rohm, Kholby Wardell, and Tiffany Tatreau, who recently replaced Taylor Louderman in the role of Ocean. Alex Wyse (Deaf West's Spring Awakening), Gus Halper (Goat), Johnny Newcomb (The Last Ship), and Emily Walton (Peter and the Starcatcher) complete the ensemble.

The story is described as follows: "The Saint Cassian High School Chamber Choir will board the Cyclone roller coaster at 8:17pm. At 8:19 the front axle will break, sending them to their tragic demise. A mechanical fortune-teller invites each to tell the story of a life interrupted — with the promise of a prize like no other."

The creative team includes scenic design by Scott Davis, costume design by Theresa Ham, lighting by Greg Hofmann, sound by Garth Helm, and projections by Mike Tutaj. Musical supervision is by Doug Peck with musical direction by Remy Kurs.
