The drama explores the 1978 Camp David Accords.
Arena Stage's acclaimed 2014 production of Lawrence Wright's Camp David has set a cast for its upcoming production at San Diego's Old Globe Theatre. Directed by Molly Smith, the production runs from May 13-June 19.
Based on true events surrounding the 1978 Camp David Accords, the play follows the 13-day meeting between President Jimmy Carter, Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin, and Egyptian President Anwar Sadat as they attempted to negotiate peace in the Middle East.
Arena Stage company members Richard Thomas (Jimmy Carter), Hallie Foote (Rosalynn Carter), and Khaled Nabawy (Anwar Sadat) will reprise their performances, with Ned Eisenberg joining them as Menachem Begin. The creative team includes Walt Spangler (scenic design), Paul Tazewell (costume design), Pat Collins (lighting design), David Van Tieghem (original music and sound design), Jeff Sugg (projection design), and David Huber (vocal coach).
It was previously reported that Camp David would move to Broadway following the Old Globe run.
