Randal Myler and Dan Wheetman’s Low Down Dirty Blues Performed as Cherry Lane Benefit

Randal Myler and Dan Wheetman’s new musical Low Down Dirty Blues will receive a one-night only performance at The Cherry Lane Theatre on October 19 at 7pm. BJ Jones will direct the performance, which will raise money for the theater’s programs for playwrights.

The show, which comes from the creators of It AIn’t Nothin’ But the Blues, features songs made famous by such entertainers as Mae West, Muddy Waters, Ma Rainey, Sophie Tucker, Howlin’ Wolf, Pearl Bailey, and many others. The company features Sandra Reaves-Phillips, Deborah Blackwell-Cook, Gregory Porter, Mississippi Charles Bevel and Terrence Riggins.

The performance at the Cherry Lane precedes the show’s world premiere which is scheduled for May 2010 at Northlight Theatre in Illinois, where Jones is artistic director.
