Tony Award winner Ralph Fiennes will star opposite Olivier Award winner Indira Varma in a new production of William Shakespeare’s Macbeth, which is set to play Liverpool (November 24-December 16), Edinburgh (January 13-27, 2024), and London (February 11-March 23), before arriving at Washington, DC’s Shakespeare Theatre Company April 2-28, 2024.

Fiennes will play the regicidal Scottish thane, while Varma plays the lady whispering in his ear.  Directed by Simon Godwin with set design by Frankie Bradshaw and an adaptation by Emily Burns, this new production will be staged in site-specific warehouses in each of the four cities.

Fiennes recently appeared off-Broadway as New York City master builder Robert Moses in Straight Line Crazy, delivering a performance that our reviewer likened to “a snarling Shakespearean monarch.”

Further casting and the full creative team will be revealed at a later date.
