New York City
Weisz will return to the stage under the direction of David Leveaux.
Oscar winner Rachel Weisz (The Constant Gardener) will return to the stage this fall in the first major New York revival of David Hare's Tony-nominated drama Plenty. The work will be presented at the Public Theater, where the work first premiered in 1982.
Weisz will take on the role of Susan Traherne, a British secret agent flown into France during World War II. Her experiences over the two decades that follow paint the portrait of a remarkably brave woman who find in peacetime the values and relationships she cherished in war. After its initial Public Theater run in 1982, the drama transferred to Broadway in 1983, receiving a Tony nomination for Best Play.
David Leveaux (Cyrano de Bergerac) will direct the production. Weisz made her Broadway debut in Mike Nichols' 2013 revival of Harold Pinter's Betrayal. She received an Olivier Award for her performance in A Streetcar Named Desire at the Donmar Warehouse.
Dates and additional information about Plenty will be revealed in the coming months.
