Rachel Bloom Will Make Her Broadway Debut in Bill Irwin's Adaptation of The Imaginary Invalid

The cast also includes Tony Award nominees Brooks Ashmanskas and Dylan Baker.

Roundabout Theatre Company has announced the complete cast and design team for The Imaginary Invalid by Molière, translated by Doug Skinner and adapted by Tony Award winner Bill Irwin.

Tony Award-nominated actor Brandon J. Dirden will make his Broadway directorial debut with the production, running September 25-November 22, with an official opening on October 22, at the Todd Haimes Theatre.

As previously announced, The Imaginary Invalid will star Bill Irwin as Argan. He will be joined by Tony Award nominee Brooks Ashmanskas as Dr. Diafoirus/Purgon, Tony Award nominee Dylan Baker as Beralde, Golden Globe Award winner Rachel Bloom in her Broadway debut as Toinette, Hiram Delgado as Bonnefoy/Thomas/Fleurant, Theatre World Award winner Crystal A. Dickinson as Beline, Daniel Croix Henderson in his Broadway debut as Cleante, and Ava Lalezarzadeh as Angelique.

The creative team includes set designer Beowulf Boritt, costume designer Karen Perry, lighting designer Allen Lee Hughes, sound designer and original music composer John Gromada, hair and wig designer Nikiya Mathis, and movement director Lorenzo Pisoni.

In The Imaginary Invalid, professional patient Argan indulges his every ailment, and schemes to marry off his daughter to a doctor to save on medical bills, but she has another life in mind.
