Pretty Woman: The Musical Adds Eric Anderson to the Broadway-Bound Cast
Eric Anderson, currently playing Cal in the Broadway musical Waitress, has been announced as the latest addition to the Broadway-bound musical Pretty Woman, making its world premiere at Chicago's Oriental Theatre next year. Performances will begin March 13, 2018, and run for a strictly limited 5-week engagement, followed by a fall 2018 Broadway opening at a Nederlander theater to be announced.
Anderson will play hotel manager Barney Thompson (played by Hector Elizondo in the film). He joins a cast led by Samantha Barks as Vivian Ward and Tony winner Steve Kazee as Edward Lewis, along with Tony nominee Orfeh as Kit and Jason Danieley as Philip Stuckey. Anderson's previous Broadway credits include Kinky Boots, The Last Ship, Rocky, South Pacific, and Soul Doctor, which earned him a Drama Desk nomination.
With an original score by Grammy winner Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance, the musical features a book by the late Garry Marshall (the film's director) and the film's screenwriter, J.F. Lawton and is directed by two-time Tony winner Jerry Mitchell. The production will feature scenic design by David Rockwell, costume design by Gregg Barnes, lighting design by Kenneth Posner and Philip S. Rosenberg, sound design by John Shivers, hair design by Josh Marquette, and music supervision, arrangements, and orchestrations by Will Van Dyke.
Pretty Woman is produced by Paula Wagner, Nice Productions, LPO, New Regency Productions, Roy Furman, James L. Nederlander, Caiola Productions, Hunter Arnold, Stage Entertainment, and the John Gore Organization.
