The Playwrights Foundation has announced the pieces that will be presented as part of the 33rd annual Bay Area Playwrights Festival (BAPF), to run July 23 – August 1 at the Thick House. Over the course of the Festival, eight new plays in development will be performed in repertory.
The plays include Three Wolves and a Lamb by Yussef El Guindi, directed by Doyle Ott; Tvá Kamila by Erin Bregman, directed by Steven Anthony Jones; Atlas of Longing by Jeanne Drennan, directed by Evren Odcikin; The Killing of Michael X, A New Film by Celia Wallace by Cory Hinkle, directed by Jessica Heidt; Hunter’s Point by Elizabeth Gjelten, directed by Christine Young; and Port Out, Starboard Hom by Sheila Callaghan (with foolsFURY), directed by Ben Yalom.
In addition, the BAPF will include two performances of the Bay Area SHorts (BASH!) One-Act Plays, which will include Pookie Goes Grenading by JC Lee, and The Expiration Date by Steven Salzman.
The company will feature Naomi Newman, Corey Fisher, Julia Brothers, Carlos Aguirre, Arwen Anderson, Rebecca White, Peter Ruocco, Danielle Levin, Kelsey Venter, Julia McNeal, Jessica Kitchens, Cassidy Brown, James Asher, John Flanagan, Jackson Davis, Benjamin Pither and Sally Dana.
Special discussion/panel events will also be part of the festival including Playwrights TalkBack (July 25, 10am), featuring Yockey and Gunderson; a New Play Symposium (July 30, 3pm), to feature Erik Ehn, Marcus Gardley, Rebecca Novick and others.
