The Kleban Foundation presented the 22nd Annual Kleban Prizes at a private ceremony at ASCAP on June 18.
As previously reported, the award for the most promising musical theatre lyricist has gone to Marcy Heisler, while the Kleban Prize for the most promising musical theatre librettist is a tie between Andrew Gerle and Matt Schatz.
The event featured musical performances written by the three honorees, with performers including Sierra Boggess, Steven Booth, Zina Goldrich, Lauren Marcus, David Perlman, Soara-Joye Ross, and Hanley Smith.
Musicians included Gerle and Goldrich, along with Micah Burgess, Michael Kuennen, Paul Wolfram, and Eli Zoller.
Attendees included 2012 Kleban Prize judge and President and Executive Director of The Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization Ted Chapin, and from The Kleban Foundation Board of Directors, Elliot Brown, Sarah Douglas, Sheldon Harnick, Richard Maltby, Jr. and Maury Yeston.
