Glee star Naya Rivera hosted the event, while special guests included Broadway veterans Mario Lopez — who presented the Outstanding Spanish-Language Music Artist award to Christian Chávez — and Sara Ramirez.
At the ceremony, awards were also presented to The Kids Are All Right for Outstanding Film – Wide Release; 8: The Mormon Proposition for Outstanding Documentary; and openly lesbian tech writer Kara Swisher, who received the Local Hero Award. The awards were sponsored by ROKK.
