A private reading of QUILT – A Musical Celebration was held at Rosie O’Donnell’s Maravel Arts Center, home of Rosie’s Theater Kids in New York, on Wednesday, June 20.
The presentation marked the 25th anniversary of The NAMES Project AIDS Memorial Quilt in advance of its planned summer return to the nation’s capital. The performance featured
stories for, from, and about The Quilt .
Performers included Steven Cupo, Mike Evariste, Stephanie Gibson, Hunter Ryan Herdlicka, Leah Hocking, Elizabeth Hubbard, Daniel Rowan Johnson, Morgan Karr, Kick Kennedy, Carrie Manolakos, Julia Murney, Matthew Naclerio, Autum Serraty, Stephanie Umoh, and the event’s producer, Faisal Al-Juburi.
The performance featured music direction by Jesse Vargas and piano accompaniment by Mark Mitchell. Concert staging was by John Schak, one of the playwrights behind QUILT.
