Harvey Schmidt, composer of the long-running Off-Broadway musical The Fantasticks visited the production at the Snapple Theater Center on Saturday, June 16. It was the first time that Schmidt had seen the musical in New York in two decades.
Written with Tom Jones, The Fantasticks is inspired by Edmond Rostand’s comedy Les Romanesques, telling the story of a boy and a girl who are brought together by their fathers, only to grow apart when they realize they wish to experience the world. The score includes classic songs including “Try to Remember,” “They Were You,” and “Soon It’s Gonna Rain.”
The cast of The Fantasticks features Aaron Carter, John Davidson, Jeremiah James, Bill Bateman, Tom Flagg, Heidi Giberson, Matt Leisy, Michael Nostrand, Dan Sharkey, Juliette Trafton, and Scott Willis.
