On Friday, February 17, cast members from Broadway’s upcoming production of the Andrew Lloyd Webber-Tim Rice musical Jesus Christ Superstar joined a small audience at Harlem’s Church of the Intercession for a short performance. The performance was filmed by the production and will be distributed for fans who didn’t get to see it live.
The production, which will begin previews on March 1 at the Neil Simon Theatre with a March 22 opening, originated at The Stratford Shakespeare Festival. It is directed by Tony Award winner Des McAnuff.
The cast features Paul Nolan as Jesus Christ, Josh Young as Judas Iscariot, Chilina Kennedy as Mary Magdalene, Tom Hewitt as Pontius Pilate, Bruce Dow as King Herod, Marcus Nance as Caiaphas, and Aaron Walpole as Annas.
