The cast of Broadway’s Priscilla Queen of the Desert the Musical was honored at the Family Equality Council’s annual New York City awards dinner, held at Pier 60 on Monday, April 25.
Star Will Swenson, who plays Tick/Mitz, and cast members Jacqueline B. Arnold, Anastacia McCleskey, and Ashley Spencer — who portray the divas — were among the attendees. Also present was Swenson’s girlfriend, four-time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald.
Honorees at the awards dinner also included Lisa Cholodenko, screenwriter/director of the Oscar-nominated movie, The Kids Are All Right; and Mary T. Keane, a local foster care, adoption, and youth advocate.
The event honors individuals and organizations who have demonstrated a commitment to helping LGBT families. Proceeds will help sustain Family Equality Council’s educational, advocacy and policy work.
