Pharrell Williams to Write Juneteenth-Inspired Musical

Black-ish creator Kenya Barris will team up with Grammy-winning musician Pharrell Williams for a stage musical inspired by Juneteenth, the African-American holiday tradition that celebrates the final day of slavery in the United States.

Deadline reports that Barris will write the script with Peter Saji, with music and lyrics by Williams. Williams will produce with partner Mimi Valdés and their company i am OTHER, with Saji also producing.
