Broadway musical director Paul Gemignani will receive the York’s Oscar Hammerstein Award

Legendary Broadway musical director and conductor Paul Gemignani will be honored with the York Theatre Company‘s Oscar Hammerstein Award at their 21st annual Gala, to be held on Monday, November 19 at the Edison Ballroom.

Broadway star Alex Gemignani, Paul’s son, hosts the event, which is directed by Lonny Price.

The evening will feature performances by Kate Baldwin, Mario Cantone, Jenn Colella, Marin Mazzie, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Chip Zien, and many more. Also expected to be on hand are Gemignani’s frequent collaborator Stephen Sondheim, as well as Alice Hammerstein Mathias.

Gemignani most recently served as musical director and conductor for the Shakespeare in the Park production of Into the Woods. His next project is Roundabout Theatre Company’s The Mystery of Edwin Drood. His credits also include Sweeney Todd, Follies, A Little Night Music, South Pacific, and many more. He received a Special Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in 2001.
