Chip Zien is best known for his creation and portrayals of the Baker in Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's award winning Into the Woods (which earned him an L.A. Drama-Logue Award and an Outer Critics nomination), and Mendel in William Hinn's Falsetto's. Zien's theatrical credits include Mike Nichols' The Country Girl, Thenardier in the revival of Les Miserables, Tommy Tune's Grand Hotel, The Boys From Syracuse, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, All Over Town, and The Suicide with Derek Jacobi. Zien has also been a part of the New York premier of In Trousers at Playwrights Horizons and appeared thereafter in the original productions of March of the Falsettos and Falsettoland.
