Orange Is the New Black's Annie Golden Will Star in New Play Underland

Alexandra Collier is the author of the piece, which was developed at Dixon Place and Sydney Theatre Company.

Orange Is the New Black star Annie Golden will lead the cast of Alexandra Collier's Underland, a production of terraNOVA Collective at 59E59 Theaters. Directed by Mia Rovegno, the play will run from April 3-March 25, with opening night set for April 11.

Underland tells the story of two teenage Australian schoolgirls who dream of escape while digging a hole to China. But not paying attention in geography class can take you in a different direction, and when a Tokyo businessman crawls out of the earth, the girls get a glimpse of an exotic world way beyond the town’s borders. The play was developed at Dixon Place and the Sydney Theatre Company and nominated for the 2014 Weissberger Award at the Williamstown Theatre Festival.

Along with Golden (Broadway's Violet), the cast includes Georgia Cohen, Daniel K. Isaac, Kiley Lotz, and Angeliea Stark. The creative team includes Gabriel Hainer Evansohn (scenic design), Burke Brown (lighting design), Moria Sine Clinton (costume design), and Elisheba Ittoop (sound design).
