The Vineyard Theatre has announced complete casting for Good Grief, a new play by Ngozi Anyanwu and directed by Awoye Timpo. Performances will begin October 11 ahead of an October 30 opening.

Oberon K.A. Adjepong (The Homecoming Queen) and Lisa Ramirez (To the Bone) join the cast as Papa and MJ's Mom/Neighbor, respectively. As previously announced, the cast will also feature playwright Ngozi Anyanwu (HBO's The Deuce) as Nkechi, Nnamdi Asomugha (Amazon's Crown Heights) as Bro, Patrice Johnson Chevannes (The Homecoming Queen) as NeNe, Hunter Parrish (Weeds) as JD, and Ian Quinlan (The Long Road Home) as MJ.

The story is described as follows: "Nkechi was a good Nigerian-American girl. She did everything right. Went to med school. Made plans. Then life happened. And plans changed. A first-generation coming-of-age journey of love, loss, and growing into adulthood, Good Grief follows Nkechi as she navigates Pennsylvania's suburbs alongside her childhood crush, her would-be-philosopher brother, and her immigrant parents."

Good Grief received its world premiere at Center Theatre Group in Los Angeles. The Vineyard Theatre mounting is produced in association with Audible.
