New School for Drama to Present One-Act Play Festival

The New School for Drama will present Random Acts! One-Act Play Festival, a free festival of short plays drawn from both classic and contemporary repertories, to run February 19-April 25.

Week one programming will feature John M. Synge’s In the Shadow of the Glen, to be directed by Kathy MacGowan, and feature David Bly, Connor Carew, Brynne Kraynak, and Aidan O’Shea; Games, by James Saunders, directed by Web Begole, with Nate Faust, Marco Formosa, Tara Herweg, and Valerie Lonigro, and Den of Thieves, by Stephen Adly Guirgis, directed by Ira Kip, with Brittany Bellizeare, David Marshall, Dana Mazzenga, Jason R. Stroud, Kirill Vaal, and Patrick Williams.

The second week will include Lovers by Brian Friel, with the first part directed by Mary Beth Smith with Marco Formosa, Jennifer McVey, Adrienne C. Moore, and Jason R. Stroud, and the second part directed by Jennifer Hart with Connor Carew, Alison Bridget Chambers, Tara Herweg, and Amanda Rhines. The week will also include Komachi, by Romulus Linney, directed by Tamara Ruppart, with Ji-Hye Kwon and Aidan O’Shea.

Week three will include Blind Date, by Horton Foote, directed by Kathy MacGowan, with Connor Carew, Brynne Kraynak, Dana Mazzenga, and Patrick Williams; selected scenes from Martin Sherman’s Bent, directed by Sherri Eden Barber with Nate Faust, David Marshall, and Jason R. Stroud; A Ringing of Doorbells, by Thorton Wilder, directed by Web Begole, with Jennifer Lagassé, Valerie Lonigro, Adrienne C. Moore, and Bridget Ori; and Spain, by Romulus Linney, directed by Sabina Ptasznik, with David Bly, Marco Formosa, Sara Gozalo, Aidan O’Shea, Guillermo Ulysses, and Kirill Vaal.

Week four will showcase new work with Waking up with Strangers, by Paul David Young, directed by Mary Beth Smith, with Nate Faust, Marco Formosa, Ji-Hye Kwon, and David Marshall; Broken Wing, by Rachel White, directed by Jennifer Hart, with David Bly, Connor Carew, Alison Bridget Chambers, and Bridget Ori; and I’d Do Anything, by Rebecca Stokes, directed by Sherri Eden Barber, with Brittany Bellizeare, Mikaela Johnson, Jennifer Lagassé, Aidan O’Shea, Jason R. Stroud, and Patrick Williams.

The final week will include the new plays Extinction, by Gabe McKinley, directed by Tamara Ruppart, with Nate Faust, Marco Formosa, and Mikaela Johnson; An Alan Turning Mystery, by Zay Amsbury, directed by Web Begole, with David Marshall, Aidan O’Shea, and Amanda Rhines; and Cherries, by Diana Polansky, directed by Sabina Ptasznik, with Jennifer McVey, Bridget Ori, and Patrick Williams.
