New Gay History Epic by Andrew Lippa to Receive World Premiere

Andrew Lippa's new musical chronology of the gay experience in America, Unbreakable, will have its world premiere at San Francisco's Nourse Theatre, June 22 & 23. The three-performance run will be directed by Robert Kelley.

Lippa will star in the work alongside Lisa Vroman, Britney Coleman, Marcus Paige, and the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus, under the direction and conducting of Tim Seelig. Lippa pens the music and lyrics for the production.

Spanning 120 years of history, Unbreakable focuses on a curated selection of stories throughout American LGBTQ history, including Harvard's "Secret Court" of 1920, the life of transgender and gay activist Sylvia Rivera, the Lavender Scare, the work of Nobel Peace Prize winner Jane Addams, and others. It is a followup to his opera I Am Harvey Milk.
