Neil Patrick Harris and Julianne Hough to Lead Broadway Damn Yankees Revival

Neil Patrick Harris, Julianne Hough, and Austin Scott will star in a Broadway revival of Damn Yankees, beginning performances March 24 at the Marquis Theatre. Opening night is set for April 20.

Directed and choreographed by Sergio Trujillo, this Broadway mounting began life as an in-the-round production at Arena Stage in 2025. Trujillo’s staging will be reimagined for the Marquis’s traditional proscenium stage. Now set in the 2000s during the unbeatable reign of the Yankees, the musical by Richard Adler, Jerry Ross, George Abbott, and Douglass Wallop has a new book by Will Power and Doug Wright, and additional lyrics by Lynn Ahrens.

Harris heads the company as Applegate, alongside Hough as Lola and Scott as Joe Hardy. Further casting will be announced at a later date.

Of the Arena Stage mounting, which starred Rob McClure, Ana Villafañe, and Jordan Donica, our critic said it’s a “home run of a production.”
