Tony Kushner’s drama will be revived in Great Britain.
Two-time Tony winner Nathan Lane (The Nance) will star in the National Theatre of Great Britain's upcoming revival of Tony Kushner's Angels in America, according to published reports. The production, directed by Tony winner Marianne Elliott (The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time), will begin performances in the April 2017.
Lane, who will return to Broadway this fall in The Front Page, will take on the role of Roy Cohn. He joins a company that will also include Andrew Garfield (Death of a Salesman) as Prior Walter, Russell Tovey (A View From the Bridge) as Joe Pitt, and Olivier Award winner Denise Gough (People, Places And Things) as Harper Pitt. Additional information will be revealed in the coming months.
The two parts of Kushner's drama, Millennium Approaches and Perestroika, received their original London premieres in 1992 and 1993, respectfully. The entire play had its Broadway premiere in 1993, and was revived by off-Broadway's Signature Theatre in 2010.
