The Gordon Edelstein-directed production of My Name Is Asher Lev, which has been playing since last fall at The Westside Theatre, has announced that it will end its run September 1 after 341 performances.

The Aaron Posner stage adaptation of Chaim Potok’s novel features Ari Brand (Broadway Bound) as Asher and Mark Nelson (After the Fall) and Jenny Bacon (Heartless) in all of the play’s additional roles. The production began at the Tony Award-winning Long Wharf Theatre before moving to New York.

My Name Is Asher Lev is set in post-war Brooklyn and centers on a boy prodigy who feels compelled to pursue his life as a painter – even against the will of family, community, and tradition.

Talks are underway for productions of Asher Lev in Los Angeles, Chicago, and London, among cities.
