Mike Myers will write a stage musical version based on the popular film franchise Austin Powers, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Tony Award winner Casey Nicholaw is in negotiations to direct.the production.
The show will be a prequel to the films, and be set in 1960s London. It will reportedly feature music by Burt Bacharach and Elvis Costello.
Myers co-wrote and played the title role in the three Austin Powers films. He won an Emmy in 1989 as one of the writers for Saturday Night Live.
