Sam Gold will direct a free reading of Annie Baker’s The Aliens, featuring original songs and lyrics by Michael Chernus and Patch Darragh, as part of Ars Nova’s Out Loud play-reading series, April 20 at 7pm.

In the piece, two angry young men in sweatpants sit in front of a rural New England coffee shop and discuss poetry. When a lonely high school student arrives on the scene, they decide to teach him everything they know. The cast will include Chernus, Darragh, and Dane Dehaan.

Baker’s other plays include Body Awareness, Circle Mirror Transformation, Nocturama, and Florence.

Readings are free and open to the public, but reservations are required. Call 212-977-1700 or email rsvp@arsnovanyc.com. For more information, visit www.arsnovanyc.com.
