Joe DiPietro’s comedy is directed by Kathleen Marshall.
The stars of Joe DiPietro's new Broadway comedy Living on Love met the press at the Empire Hotel on March 12.
Living on Love stars acclaimed opera soprano and four-time Grammy winner Renée Fleming in her Broadway debut, alongside Tony nominee Douglas Sills (Lady, Be Good!), Emmy nominee Anna Chlumsky (Veep), Jerry O'Connell (Crossing Jordan), Blake Hammond (First Date), Scott Robertson (Choir Boy), and the dog Trixie (Bullets Over Broadway).
The play is inspired by the Garson Kanin play Peccadillo, which tells the story of the celebrated diva Raquel De Angelis (Fleming), who hires a handsome young scribe (O'Connell) to chronicle her life when her maestro husband, Vito (Sills), becomes enamored with a young woman (Chlumsky) hired to ghostwrite his mostly fictional autobiography. This production made its debut in 2014 at Williamstown Theatre Festival.
The creative team includes Derek McLane (scenic design), Michael Krass (costume design), Peter Kaczorowski (lighting design), Scott Lehrer (sound design), and Rob Fisher (music consultant).
Directed by Kathleen Marshall, the production begins performances April 1 at the Longacre Theatre, with opening night set for April 20.
