Two-time Tony winner Matthew Broderick will star in the Irish Repertory Theatre production of Conor McPherson's Shining City. Directed by Ciarán O’Reilly, performances will run from May 17-July 3, with an official June 9 opening.

Broderick was seen on Broadway earlier this season in A.R. Gurney's Sylvia. His other recent Broadway credits include It's Only a Play, Nice Work If You Can Get It, The Philanthropist, The Odd Couple, and The Producers, in which he famously originated the role of Leo Bloom. Broderick earned Tony Awards for his performances in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying (1995) and Brighton Beach Memoirs (1983).

Shining City was first performed in London's West End at the Royal Court Theatre in June 2004 and opened on Broadway at the Biltmore Theatre on May 9, 2006. The production was nominated for two Tony Awards, including Best Play, and featured a cast that included Brían F. O'Byrne, Oliver Platt, Martha Plimpton, and Peter Scanavino.

Set in Dublin, the play is a ghost story that recounts the visits of a widower John (Broderick) to a therapist, claiming he has seen his dead wife in their house. The Irish Rep cast will also feature Billy Carter as Ian, Lisa Dwan as Neasa, and James Russell as Laurence.

The production's creative team will include set design by Charlie Corcorcan, costume design by Martha Hally, lighting design by Michael Gottlieb, original music by Ryan Rumery, and props by Sven Henry Nelson.
