Mare Winningham has joined the cast for the upcoming History Channel miniseries The Hatfields and McCoys, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Kevin Reynolds will direct the project.
The show centers on a bitter feud between two families who lived across from each other on the Kentucky/West Virginia border. It will star Kevin Costner and Bill Paxton as the heads of the respective families, with newly announced cast additions also including Tom Berenger and Powers Boothe.
Winningham, who will play the role of Sally McCoy, has appeared in numerous stage productions, including After the Revolution, Whisper House, 10 Million Miles, Hurlyburly, Side Man, and Lessons. She received an Oscar nomination for Georgia and won Emmy Awards for George Wallace and Amber Waves. Her other film and television credits include St. Elmo’s Fire, Love Is Never Silent, The Boys Next Door, Maldonado Miracle, and Grey’s Anatomy.
