The ”Anastasia” and ”Once on This Island” songwriters join a select group of Broadway legends on Sardi’s wall of fame.
Tony Award-winning songwriting duo Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty received another high honor on Friday, April 27: a portrait on Sardi's wall of fame.
Ahrens and Flaherty's collaboration spans the course of 30 years and began with 1988's Lucky Stiff. The production opened in New York at Playwrights Horizons and won the Richard Rodgers Award. Their sophomore outing was their Broadway debut, a production of Once on This Island at the Booth Theatre. Ragtime opened at the Ford Center for the Performing Arts in 1998 and Ahrens and Flaherty were awarded the Tony for Best Original Musical Score. Other major credits include Seussical, Rocky, and Anastasia.
Currently, Ahrens and Flaherty are represented on Broadway by the first revival of Once on This Island, playing at the Circle in the Square Theatre, and Anastasia, currently running at the Broadhurst Theatre.
