Luker, Dvorsky, Burns, Geddes, and Reichard Sing in New Voices at Symphony Space, April 21

Theater stars Rebecca Luker, George Dvorsky, Andrea Burns, Jill Geddes, and Daniel Reichard will perform in New Voices II, the second concert of a series presented by the New Composers Collective in which new songs are performed in an acoustic setting.

The selections to be heard in New Voices II span the genres of cabaret, musical theater, and art song; some of them are intended for projects currently in development while others are being written especially for the concert. Among the composers whose works will be featured are Steve Marzullo, David Friedman, Jenny Giering, and Paul Loesel. Musicians for the evening will include Grant Wenaus on piano, Peter Sachon on cello, Ed Matthew on clarinet, and Roger Butterley on guitar. Additional orchestrations for the evening will be provided by such people as Georgia Stitt and Andrew Lippa.

Rebecca Luker last appearned on Broadway in the 2000 revival of The Music Man and starred as Clara in last summer’s Kennedy Center Sondheim Celebration production of Company. George Dvorsky has been seen on Broadway in The Scarlet Pimpernel, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, and Passion, and Off-Broadway in Pete ‘n’ Keely. Andrea Burns recently appeared as Dot in the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre production of Sunday in the Park With George and was seen on Broadway in The Full Monty, Off-Broadway in Saturday Night, and on tour in Parade. Jill Geddes played Cinderella in the national tour of Into the Woods, Fantine in Les Misérables, and Nora in A Doll’s Life at the York Theatre, where she is currently appearing in Showtune. Daniel Reichard recently starred as Keith Haring in the Public Theater production of the new musical Radiant Baby.

New Voices II will be performed on Monday, April 21 at 8pm in the Leonard Nimoy Thalia venue at Symphony Space (2537 Broadway at 95th Street) and will be hosted by Danny Burstein (A Class Act, Titanic).
