Louise Collins, Richard Glaves, Hilton McRae, Mary Jo Randle, et al. Set for Bard Summerscape’s Oresteia

Full casting has been announced for Bard Summerscape’s production of Aeschulyus’ Oresteia, to be directed by Gregory Thompson in a translation by Ted Hughes, July 15-August 12.

The cast will feature Derek Hutchinson (Aegisthus / Watchman / Fury), Mary Jo Randle (Clytemnestra / Clytemnestra’s Ghost), Hilton McRae (Agamemnon / Fury), Beth Fitzgerald (Cassandra / Mourner / Priestess / Fury), Louise Collins (Electra / Fury), Richard Glaves (Orestes), Rhys Meredith (Herald / Pylades / Fury), Sandra Voe (Chorus 1 / Clissa / Fury), David Fielder (Chorus 2 / Mourner / Apollo), and Aoife McMahon (Chorus 3 / Mourner 3 / Athena).

As previously announced, the seventh annual Bard SummerScape, which runs July 9-August 23 at Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, will include Lucinda Childs’ Dance, set to the music of Philip Glass and a specially-designed film by artist Sol LeWitt (July 9-12); Thaddeus Strassberger’s production of Giacomo Meyerbeer’s opera Les Huguenots (July 31-August 7); and a performance of Felix Mendelssohn’s oratorio St. Paul, featuring the American Symphony Orchestra (August 9).

The festival’s centerpiece will be Wagner and His World (August 14-23), which will include excerpts from many of his operas and symphonies; featured performers will include Richard Brunner, Christine Goerke, Lise Lindstom, Marjorie Owens, Mary Phillips, and Mark Schnaible.

Finally, SummerScape will once again house the Spiegeltent, which will host such performers as Justin Bond, Taylor Mac, and the Wau Wau Sisters.
