Little Shop of Horrors 40th Anniversary 4K Release Set for October

Frank Oz’s cult classic movie-musical Little Shop of Horrors is getting a new 4K restoration in celebration of its 40th anniversary, to be released on Blu-ray on October 6.n

Little Shop of Horrors will be available to purchase on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc online and in-store at major retailers, and available for purchase digitally from Amazon Prime Video, AppleTV, Google Play, Fandango and more.

The newly remastered release will include both the theatrical and director’s cuts, along with new bonus features including an interview with Frank Oz and Ellen Greene, and a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of Audrey II with Oz, special visual effects artist Bran Ferren, and model supervisor Richard Conway.

The 1986 movie stars Rick Moranis as Seymour, Ellen Greene as Audrey, Vincent Gardenia as Mr. Mushnik, and Steve Martin as Orin Scrivello. The ensemble includes Tisha Campbell, Tichina Arnold, Michelle Weeks, Jim Belushi, John Candy, Christopher Guest, and Bill Murray.

The film received two Academy Award nominations at the 59th Oscars, for Best Original Song and Best Visual Effects.

With music by Alan Menken and a book and lyrics by Howard Ashman, Little Shop of Horrors is the Faustian tale of a florist’s assistant who discovers a strange and unusual plant that feasts on human blood. It also garners him unprecedented acclaim and attention. But just how far will he go to impress the woman he loves?
