The line-up has been announced for the first annual Summerwood music series, to play the Highline Ballroom, B.B. King Blues Club, Town Hall, and the Knitting Factory, June 1-19. Presented in conjunction with Gay Pride, the series will offer GLBT and GLBT-friendly artists that eschew the standard tropes of the mainstream.
Highlights will include the legendary Little Richard (B.B. King, June 7), Sandra Bernhard in Without You, I’m Nothing: The 20th Anniversary Show (Town Hall, June 10), and Quinn Lemley in Gotta Get a Gimmick: Burlesque to Broadway (B.B. King, June 10).
Additional artists will include Lykke Li, Girlyman, Amanda Palmer, Melissa Ferrick and Hesta Prynn, Salem, and Girl in a Coma.
