Lincoln Center Theater presents Freestyle Love Supreme, featuring Lin-Manuel Miranda and directed by Miranda's In the Heights collaborator Thomas Kail, for four performances on March 21 and 22. This LCT3 event will take place at the The Claire Tow Theater.
Freestyle Love Supreme is a live, improvised show featuring Lin-Manuel Miranda, Chris Jackson, Chris "Shockwave" Sullivan, Andrew Bancroft, Arthur Lewis, and Bill Sherman. The performance comprises nonstop improvised hip-hop numbers, with performers "spinning cues from the audience into instantaneous riffs and fully realized musical numbers."
The show has performed many times at Joe's Pub, as well as at the Edinburgh International Fringe Festival, and the HBO US Comedy Arts Festival. Freestyle Love Supreme's first TV special aired March 8 on Pivot.
Lin-Manuel Miranda is the Tony-winning creator of In the Heights. His new musical Hamilton will be presented at the Public Theater in early 2015. As a performer, Miranda will lead the cast of New York City Center's Encores! Off-Center series' production of Jonathan Larson's tick, tick… BOOM!, from June 25-28.
LCT3, Lincoln Center Theater's programming initiative, is devoted to producing the work of emerging artists and developing new audiences.
