Rob Marshall’s sequel to ”Mary Poppins” will be released next month.
Mary Poppins Returns celebrated its world premiere on Thursday, November 30, in Hollywood, California.
Mary Poppins Returns features a screenplay by David Magee from a story by Magee, Rob Marshall, and John DeLuca. The film stars Emily Blunt as the title character, with Lin-Manuel Miranda, Meryl Streep, Ben Whishaw, Emily Mortimer, Pixie Davies, Joel Dawson, Nathanael Saleh, Julie Walters, Colin Firth, and Angela Lansbury in supporting roles. Dick Van Dyke, who played Bert in the original film, also appears.
The story is described as follows: "In Depression-era London, a now-grown Jane and Michael Banks, along with Michael's three children, are visited by the enigmatic Mary Poppins following a personal loss. Through her unique magical skills, and with the aid of her friend Jack, she helps the family rediscover the joy and wonder missing in their lives."
Rob Marshall's upcoming sequel to the classic 1964 musical is set to be released on December 19.
