The classic musical will be presented in Connecticut and New Jersey.
New Jersey’s McCater Theatre Center will copresent Goodspeed Musicals’ upcoming production of Dreamgirls in early 2024.
The Henry Krieger-Tom Eyen classic is set to run this holiday season at the Goodspeed Opera House in East Haddam, Connecticut, with previews beginning November 10. That run is scheduled to conclude on December 30. It will move to the McCarter’s Matthews Theatre in Princeton March 6-24, replacing the previously announced Caroline, or Change.
Lili-Anne Brown directs Dreamgirls, with choreography by Breon Arzell and music direction by Adam Souza. Casting has not yet been announced.
Set in the 1960s, the musical tells the story of an up-and-coming singing group and the drama that happens behind the scenes. The six-time Tony Award-winning and Grammy Award-winning Dreamgirls followed a path from long-running hit on Broadway, to London’s West End, to Oscar-winning movie musical.
