After playing a game of chicken with Urban Cowboy, the producers of Life x 3 relented today and changed the date of their show’s Broadway opening to Monday, March 31.
Both shows had originally announced that they would bow on Thursday, March 27, but producer Ron Kastner said today that the opening of Life x 3 would be delayed by a few days. “I do not wish to cause complications for either production by splitting critical and media attention, which would happen if we opened the same evening,” Kastner stated. “Life x 3 has a very tight schedule, with the commitments of our director and creative team but, luckily, we are able to move to Monday night.”
It seems that the accidental double-booking occurred due to some confusion at the League of American Theatre and Producers, where both shows registered for the same date. Despite the rescheduling of opening night, Life x 3 will still begin previews on Tuesday, March 11 at Circle in the Square. The play is a new comedy by Yasmina Reza (Art), translated by Christopher Hampton; it stars Helen Hunt, John Turturro, Brent Spiner, and Linda Emond.
