Kerry Ellis has joined the line-up of performers for this year’s BBC Proms in the Park concert to be offered in Hyde Park on September 11, according to a report on the website for the U.K. magazine The Stage. In her appearance, Ellis will be joined by Queen guitarist Brian May.
The concert, which will also feature Dame Kiri Te Kanawa and José Carreras, will be broadcast on Radio 2 and marks the final night of the summertime Proms series. The event will culminate with a video hookup to the Last Night of the Proms concert, featuring Renée Fleming, being presented concurrently in Royal Albert Hall.
Ellis is currently starring in Oliver! at Theatre Royal Drury Lane. In addition, she has been seen as Elphaba in Wicked in both the West End production and on Broadway, and her other musical credits include Queen’s We Will Rock You, in which she originated the role of Meatloaf, and Chess in Concert.
