Kathleen Chalfant to Star in NYTW’s Red Dog Howls

Tony Award nominee and Drama Desk Award winner Kathleen Chalfant will star in Alexander Dinelaris’ play, Red Dog Howls, which will open New York Theatre Workshop’s 2012-2013 season, beginning performances on September 4. Ken Rus Schmoll will direct the production. Additional cast and creative team will be announced at a later date.


The play tells the story of Michael Kirakos, a young man who discovers a box of letters after his father’s death, that reveals his grandmother is still alive. As they develop a relationship, Michael learns many more family secrets, including the truth about his heritage.


Dinelaris’ other work include Still Life, Zanna, Dont!, and The Chaos Theories.

Chalfant’s many stage credits include Wit, Angels in America, Painting Churches, Family Week, Prophecy, and A Delicate Balance.
