Center Theatre Group has announced that Justin Bartha (Lend Me a Tenor) will join the previously announced Danny DeVito and Judd Hirsch in a Los Angeles production of Neil Simon’s 1972 comedy The Sunshine Boys. The production will open the company’s season and is scheduled to run from September 24-November 3. It will officially open on October 2. Thea Sharrock (Equus) will direct.
The Sunshine Boys follows Al Lewis and Willie Clark, better known as the retired vaudevillian team Lewis and Clark. The two have not spoken since breaking up their act, and now they’ve been invited to participate in a CBS special on the history of comedy. The challenge is getting them to agree to a reunion.
DeVito and Hirsch are Emmy Award-winning costars of the landmark television series Taxi. Bartha was most recently seen on the big screen in The Hangover III and the NBC comedy series The New Normal.
