Playwrights Horizons has announced additional details for its 2012-2013 season.

Four-time Tony Award nominee Kelli O’Hara will star in the previously reported world premiere musical, Far From Heaven, featuring a book by Richard Greenberg, music by Scott Frankel, lyrics by Tony Michael Korie and direction by Michael Greif. The musical is based on the Focus Features / Vulcan Productions motion picture of the same name, written and directed by Todd Haynes. The production will begin performances at Playwrights Horizons in May 2013.

Two-time Tony Award winner Judith Ivey will star in the world premiere of Amy Herzog’s new play, The Great God Pan, to be directed by Carolyn Cantor. The show centers on Jamie, whose life is thrown into a tailspin when a possible childhood trauma comes to light. The production will begin performances in November 2012.

As previously reported, two-time Tony Award nominee Amy Ryan and Emmy Award nominee David Schwimmer will star in the New York premiere of Lisa D’Amour’s Detroit, directed by Anne Kauffman, to run August 24- October 7, with opening sometime in mid-September. The play is set in the adjacent backyards of two recovering addicts and their anxious middle-class neighbors.

The season will also include the New York premiere of Samuel D. Hunter’s The Whale, directed by Davis McCallum, which will begin performances in October 2012; the world premiere of Annie Baker’s The Flick, directed by Sam Gold, to begin performances in February 2013; and the world premiere of Tanya Barfield’s The Call, directed by Leigh Silverman, and to be presented as a co-production with Primary Stages, beginning March 2013.
