Jessie Mueller Stars in Sara Bareilles' Musical Adaptation of Waitress

The first production photos have been released of Jessie Mueller and the rest of the cast in the world premiere of Sara Bareilles and Jessie Nelson's new musical Waitress, now playing at the American Repertory Theater. The show, which is based on the motion picture written by Adrienne Shelly, has an opening night scheduled for August 19.

Waitress follows Jenna (Jessie Mueller), a waitress and expert pie maker who is stuck in a small town and a loveless marriage. When a baking contest in a nearby county offers her a chance at escape, Jenna must weigh her commitments against a rare shot at freedom and recognition.

In addition to Mueller, a Tony winner for her starring role in Beautiful — The Carole King Musical), Jeanna de Waal (Kinky Boots) as Dawn, Drew Gehling (On a Clear Day You Can See Forever) as Dr. Pomatter, Dakin Matthews (The Audience) as Joe, Keala Settle (Les Misérables) as Becky, Joe Tippett (Airline Highway) as Earl, and Jeremy Morse as Ogie.
