Marsha Mason directs Robert Harling’s play at Bucks County Playhouse.
The stars of the upcoming Bucks County Playhouse production of Robert Harling’s comedy Steel Magnolias met the press at their rehearsal studio on May 18. The production is directed by four-time Oscar nominee Marsha Mason.
The cast is made up of Patricia Richardson (Home Improvement) as M'Lynn, Susan Sullivan (Castle) as Clairee, Jessica Walter (Arrested Development) as Ouiser, Clea Alsip (Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike) as Shelby, Lucy DeVito (Love, Loss and What I Wore) as Annelle, and Elaine Hendrix (FX’s Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll) as Truvy.
The play is set at Truvy’s Beauty Salon in Chinquapin, Louisiana, where "the hair is big and the gossip is juicy. While their coifs are perfected and daily lives debated, six distinctly different women forge a unique bond of sisterhood — one that even when put to the test, only grows stronger."
Steel Magnolias will begin previews at Bucks County Playhouse on May 27 in advance of a May 28 opening. It will run through June 18.
