Lecesne’s solo show will run at the Old Globe.
James Lecesne's solo show The Absolute Brightness of Leonard Pelkey will take the stage at San Diego's Old Globe Theatre under the direction of Tony Speciale September 30-October 29.
The production has original music by Tony Award-winning composer Duncan Sheik, scenic design by Jo Winiarski, lighting design by Matt Richards, sound design by Christian Frederickson, projection design by Aaron Rhyne, original animation and photography by Matthew Sandager, and costumes by Paul Marlow.
A Broadway veteran, Lecesne is cofounder of the Trevor Project, the only national 24-hour crisis intervention and suicide prevention Lifeline for LGBTQ youth. He wrote the screenplay for the Oscar-winning short Trevor, which inspired the founding of the organization. James has created several solo shows, including Word of Mouth — which was presented by Mike Nichols and Elaine May and directed by Eve Ensler — and One Man Band.
Based on Lecesne's novel Absolute Brightness, The Absolute Brightness of Leonard Pelkey features Emmy-nominated Lecesne, who portrays every character in a small Jersey Shore town where a young boy goes missing.
