Former boxing champion Jake LaMotta will bring his new tell-all show Lady and the Champ to the Richmond Shepard Theatre, July 19-29.
The evening of stories, songs, and videos is directed by Denise Baker, who will appear in the production alongside Patrick Jude and Carl Shimkin. It is co-written by Baker and Bonnie Lee Sanders, and Joel Diamond serves as musical director.
Lady and the Champ will look back on the life of the now 89-year-old LaMotta, a former middleweight champion whose career dates back to the presidency of Franklin Delano Roosevelt. His life was immortalized on screen by Robert DeNiro in the film Raging Bull.
