J.T. Rogers' Oslo Heading to the Big Screen, With Bartlett Sher Directing

A film version of J.T. Rogers' acclaimed drama Oslo, which opens tonight at the Vivian Beaumont Theater, is in the works, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Produced by Marc Platt, the drama will be adapted for the screen by Rogers and directed by Tony winner Bartlett Sher, who helms the stage production. It would mark Sher's feature film debut.

Described as a darkly comic epic, Oslo tells the story of how Norwegian diplomat Mona Juul and her husband, social scientist Terje Rød-Larsen, planned and orchestrated top-secret, high-level meetings between the State of Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization, which culminated in the signing of the historic 1993 Oslo Accords.

Oslo comes to Broadway after an off-Broadway run at Lincoln Center Theatre's Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater. The Broadway mounting features the production's original cast: Michael Aronov, Anthony Azizi, Adam Dannheisser, Jennifer Ehle, Daniel Jenkins, Dariush Kashani, Jeb Kreager, Jefferson Mays, Christopher McHale, Daniel Oreskes, Angela Pierce, Henny Russell, Joseph Siravo, and T. Ryder Smith.

Filming will take place after Sher remounts the production at London's National Theatre, and later the West End's Harold Pinter Theatre, this fall.
