Well, folks, the Broadway season has finally, officially ended with the opening of Disney’s Tarzan last night at the Richard Rodgers Theatre. Pictured here at the after party at the Marriott Marquis are Josh Strickland and Jenn Gambatese, who play Tarzan and Jane, with Phil Collins, who wrote the show’s score.
Among the notables on hand for the Tarzan festivities: the great Angela Lansbury, who has been quoted as saying that she’d like to return to Broadway if the right vehicle comes along…
…Lucie Arnaz, who will be back on Broadway very soon in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels…
…and the stunningly handsome James Marsden (The X Men, etc.), who would be welcome on Broadway any time!
Conor McPherson’s Shining City opened on Tuesday, May 9 at the Biltmore Theatre with a powerhouse cast (left to right): Brían F. O’Byrne, Oliver Platt, Martha Plimpton, and Peter Scanavino.
The after-party for Shining City, held at the Bryant Park Grill, was attended by such celebs as Keith Carradine (who happens to be Martha Plimpton’s dad)…
…the super-talented John Leguizamo and celebrity chef Mario Batali…
… Broadway star and TV icon Tyne Daly…
…and the great actor Brian Dennehy, lauded for his performance as Willy Loman in Death of a Salesman on Broadway and in London.
On Sunday, May 7, the second Broadway revival of Herman Wouk’s The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial opened at the Schoenfeld Theatre — formerly the Plymouth — which also housed the original production. Pictured here during the curtain call is Wouk himself (right) being applauded by (left to right) stars Tim Daly, David Schwimmer, and Zeljko Ivanek.
The celebs on hand for the Caine opening and the after party at Sardi’s included Eric Bogosian, who starred in Robert Altman’s 1988 TV film version of the play…
