Idina Menzel, best known for her Tony Award-winning performance as the wicked witch Elphaba in Broadway's Wicked,as well as for her recent voice work in Disney's animated musical Frozen, has been named this year's National Ambassador of Kids' Night on Broadway.

Now in its 18th year, the annual event, which offers children from 6-18 a free Broadway ticket (when accompanied by a full-paying adult), will take place from February 24-March 2. This year, Kids' Night on Broadway will partner with A Broader Way Foundation, a nonprofit founded by Menzel in 2010 that provides girls from urban communities creative outlets through arts-centered programs.

"When I first went to Broadway, it was a life-changing experience," said Menzel in a statement. "It's important that kids come to theatre because they get to see life through different characters. I'm honored to be the Kids' Night on Broadway National Ambassador and extra thrilled that this year's cause-related component is our arts-centered foundation, A Broader Way, which enables expression, empowerment, and enlightenment. As does Broadway."

In addition to her Tony-winning role, Menzel earned a Tony nomination for her performance in the original Broadway cast of Rent (her Broadway debut) and will return to Broadway this spring to star in Pulitzer Prize-winning composing duo Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey's new musical If/Then.
