Michael Gracey will direct the upcoming movie musical The Greatest Showman on Earth, according to The Hollywood Reporter. As previously reported, Hugh Jackman will star as P.T. Barnum in the project, which has a screenplay by Jenny Bicks.
At the center of the biographical movie will be the relationship between Barnum and his infatuation with one of his stars, opera singer Jenny Lind, nicknamed the “Swedish Nightingale.”
Jackman won the Tony for his portrayal of the late singer Peter Allen in The Boy From Oz. Among his other stage credits are A Steady Rain and Oklahoma! His film credits include X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Australia, The Prestige, and The Fountain.
